The story told about a baby girl who had thrown by her father. Because her father wanted a baby boy not a girl. But, this baby girl had grown to be a big and strong girl in the Greece, her town, because she educated by the bear as her mother. So, She became famous and her father wanted her to come back to the castle.
In the thumb-wrestling tournament, Atalanta got letter from her father, king Iasus, king of Arcadia, to come back to the castle.
Hades, God of Wealth the first god who got Atalanta, didn’t allow Atalanta to go but Atalanta goes. In the middle of journey, she heard a groan and that was Meleager, hero and prince of Calydonia, who got fever. So, Atalanta accompanies him to his house. And her mother asked Atalanta to take log from Feus and Plexippus to cure her son’s fever.

When Atalanta went to Feus and Plexippus, they didn’t give Atalanta the log except if Atalanta brought them a lot of money. And then Atalanta went to her father to ask the money for the log, but suddenly her father cage Atalanta in the room and he ordered Atalanta to married. Atalanta so confused because he had a promise to not marry. At the last she told her father that she wanted to marry if there was some man who can ran out her in the race.

In the first day of the race no one could run out Atalanta, she always be a winner until there was a last man the name is Melanion followed the race. But he cheated in the race, he helped by Hera, Goddess of marriage, Hera give him three golden apple but Hades known it. When the race began, Atalanta was run out of Melanian but suddenly he took the apple and thrown it to the ground. Atalanta run back to took the golden apple and run anymore. And it was continued until the last apple and Atalanta is the winner. So, she went to Feus and Plexippus to change the golden apple with the log. Finally, Atalanta got the log and gave it to Meleager. And Meleager cured from the fever.

In this novel I like Hades as a god of the wealth because he is a fair man, he didn’t helped Atalanta to cheat in the race and he also didn’t halped the other man to cheat. And I hated king Iasus because he is a greedy king. In his mind only money, money and money he collected the money from the race. And he wanted the golden apple but he didn’t get it.

I think this novel is good for us, because from this novel we can learn about the legend of the God in the past but one thing I don’t like from this novel is Atalanta as a girl didn’t marry with any male in his country.
