This novel told us about the terror of young girl who tried to look for a true story about the gossip that she heard from all her friends. In this novel, Caryl Elizabeth Amberly, aspiring writer and first year student at Salem University was very like with Prof. Maximillan DeLure, scientist, award-winning poet and Prof. at Salem University, although she had never had class with him.

            The story began when Caryl was chosen by Him to be one of his students specially selected for his new seminar. Start from that, Caryl heard the gossip about Prof. DeLure that he was an abnormal person who killed his wife and his single daughter. So, Caryl very curious with the gossip and she tried to look for the true story. Then, she tried to be close with Professor and it wasn’t difficult, because Caryl was cleaver student.

            One day, someone tried to make Caryl afraid by sending poet and dead fish inside. At the first, she guessed that it was Ben’s action, Caryl’s friend, because he was the first man who usually gives her a letter because he works at the post office in her university. But, she realized that she was wrong. Day by day she looked for the actor who had done it and what the reason. Then, Anna and Dare, caryl’s best friend, helped her they suggested her to tell about it to Prof. DeLure. When she came to Professor’s office, she didn’t find him in his office so she sent a letter for him but Nicholas France, Prof. DeLure’s assistant, took it.

            Shortly, Nicholas was the answer of the entire incident. He was sent Caryl’s a poet and dead fish inside. And the reason he done it because he didn’t want someone like his girlfriend that was Caryl near with Professor. Nicholas was Professor Daughter’s boyfriend; he came to kill Prof. DeLure. Because Professor refused him to be close with his daughter, he tried to kidnap his daughter but unfortunately e got an accident that made Prof. DeLure’s daughter dead.

            Finally, while Professor Known about the real story, he pretends to be die in his office. So, when Caryl came to his office Nicholas wanted to kill her. But suddenly, Prof. DeLure woke up and strike his from back.

            The moral value that I got from this novel is “don’t easily believe with the gossip around us, because it doesn’t certainly right”.

I knew who Nicholas was then-the madman who had kidnapped my daughter and caused her death while trying to escape with her. (Diane, 157)

            I think that’s all for my review, everyone should read Nightmare hall: the experiment. Because from this novel we can learn many lesson and the ending of this novel unexpected that make us so curious with the story. But the weakness from this novel is the story unclear because I didn’t get the reason why Prof. DeLure refused Nicholas to be close with his daughter.
