Firstly, when I looked at the cover,
there were two beautiful girls and I thought this novel told us about the
relationship between these two girls but I don’t know exactly. So, I read the
epilogue and I found that this novel told us about Ramona Quimby, the student
of fourth grade who thought that the fourth grade is going to be the best year
of her life. I’m so curious with the story and I really wanted to know what the
experiences are in fourth grade until Ramona thought that this is the best year
ever in her life, so I continued read this novel.
The main character in this novel is
Ramona Quimby (the student of fourth grade, nine years old, had brown hair,
brown eyes, and has a trouble in spelling). But in this novel also there were
some characters, like Mr. and Mrs. Quimby (Ramona’s parent), Beatrice (was
called Beezus by the family, Ramona’s sister), Daisy Kidd (Ramona’s best friend
who always helped Ramona in spelling), Danny (the boy that Ramona liked, called
Yard Ape by Ramona because she thought that he acted like an ape on the
playground) Mrs.Meacham (Ramona’s spelling teacher), Susan (Ramona’s rival,
cleaver, beautiful, but has no friend). In this novel I like Daisy more then
the other, because Daisy always helped her friend wherever and whenever.
My favorite part in this novel is
when Ramona has a birthday party and her age was ten years old and she called
it “zeroteen”. She thought that she would be a teenager because zeroteen is a
double-digit number. Then she has a party in the park, she invited all her
friends included Susan. In the party as usual birthday party she made a wish
and blew the candle on the cake, but suddenly when she give the cake to her
friend in the park Susan said that she didn’t want the cake and she bring apple
from her house and it’s because she thought that might be a spit on the cake from
blowing the candle. Ramona very angry to her, but Daisy helped Ramona and said
that every birthday party she ate the cake and no something bad happen to her
and all friend believe it. Suddenly Susan cries and said that she jealous with
Ramona because she has many friend but Susan hasn’t. Finally, Ramona, Daisy,
and Susan are the best friend.
From this novel I learned that we
have to help our friend wherever and whenever such as Daisy who helped Ramona
wherever and whenever.
